Welcome to #GolfChat! Who’s joining us, where are you, did you get out and play this past week, and if you didn’t, what was the highlight of your week? #GolfChat

This Week’s #GolfChat Questions

Q1: Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton had melt downs this past weeks over course/hole set up, Rahm referred it as a “putting contest” and “easy set up” and Hatton a horrible finishing par 5 (avg score 5.15). Do you feel the complaints are legit, or just pro’s whining? #GolfChat

Q2: LPGA was back in play from Florida with below avg. temps. (50 degrees) N. Korda faded on Sunday while D. Kang surged to victory and both talked about historically not playing well in the “cold”.  What advice would you give to these players, both mental and physical prep? #GolfChat

Q3: We’re now almost 30 days into the New Year so a good time to check in and see how you’re tracking to your own golf/personal improvement plan. Let us know how you’re doing and if we can help you in any way. #GolfChat

Q4: The 2022 PGA show kicks off today and the notables missing in the equipment world is large, no TM, Callaway, Titleist, among the missing. Does this devalue the show and how golf shows up? If you’ve ever been, tell us about your experience. #GolfChat

Q5: Both PGA and LPGA events this past week were Pro-Am tourney’s, tell us the three armatures you want in your pro-am group and then the pro (any tour/gender) that you play with. #GolfChat

Q6: @CaptPat48 wants to ask about courses that are “reversible” and if you have any in your area. A local course is re-opening and they want to re-open the back 9 as a Reversible 18 so he’s wondering if anybody has experience or thoughts on this type of curse.  #GolfChat

This Week’s #GolfChat Questions

Q1:  Maybe the most impactful golf news to hit last week was the Netflix/PGA announcement that a docuseries project has been approved with some big names giving access. Some of the numbers provided by @DoerflerJared, Netflix has 178m subscriptions in the US alone and is available in 190+ countries. Do you think more media exposure is good for golf right now?  #GolfChat

Q2: Hideki Matsuyama came back from 5 down at the turn Sunday and won with a 277 yrd 3W on the 1st playoff hole that set up an eagle putt. What club do you want in your hand when you need to hit a clutch shot #GolfChat

Q3: Back to the Sony Open – Ratings took a steep dive for the finial round on Sunday given the NFL schedule, down 49% from last year. We’ve talked it over a lot and while golf broadcasts are not great, is it just that football is king and why a mostly stuck indoors golf audience from Mid-West to East Coast didn’t watch?  #GolfChat

Q4: Grayson Murray and Kevin Na went after each other on twitter over slow play and it went no where good from there. Unlike the Bryson v Brooks show, this one seemed more personal and people were checking in with Murray. Social media is now part of the golf world so do you enjoy this aspect of pro golf, or would you rather not see this on your feed? #GolfChat

Q5: James Hart du Preez, who at nearly 6-foot-10 and 260 is a large human and avg. 373 yrds off the tee playing the Sunshine Tour last year.  He’s playing in the  on an exemption in this week’s AmEx tourney and while size alone does not make a good golfer, is bigger, stronger, faster becoming a thing in golf as it has in most other sports? #GolfChat

Q6: In my 4some yesterday was a young guy who said he was going with the risk shot whenever 1 presented itself. When you’re faced with a risk/reward shot, what is your thought process in these red light/green light situations? #GolfChat

Q1: The Sentry Tournament of Champions kicked off the 2022 PGA with golf from Hawaii and into East Coast homes in prime time. Did this mark the beginning of the 2022 golfing season to you? Or is it the Masters, or maybe when you can get out and play on a regular basis? #GolfChat

Q2: We saw record setting low scores at the Sentry and many of you were commenting on in a negative way. What do we want to see from pro golfers and tournament set-ups? Birdie fests, grind out pars, or something in between? Please tell us why. #GolfChat

Q3: The Sentry kicked off the PGA’s ban on green-reading books to mixed feelings from the players. Better putters like the ban and others don’t. Rate yourself (1 low, 5 high) as a putter and what is your green reading process? #GolfChat

Q4: The men’s game is looking to shrink development or mini tours, but the women’s game is looking to expand opportunities for their players. Let us know what you think is the right approach and what you think of the mini tours. #GolfChat

Q5: We saw lots of new golf clubs, balls, and equip. launch last week. Some of us will jump right in, others my dip a toe into the new, and others wait for the previous generation prices drop. No matter, do you trust the technology being marketed? #GolfChat

Q6: Some very cold temps hit the US in the past week or so and I’m hoping that those of us that can get out in cold weather can give their best tip for playing in less than idea conditions.  #GolfChat

Q4: The golf season is over for a number of us, or at least rounds are spotty and weather dependent. If a fellow #GolfChatter (@Back9Ben is at Tabaco Road today) live posts a round at this time of year do you pay more attention to the tweet thread? #GolfChat
