Last Minute #Golfchat

Sorry for the last-minute nature of today’s #Golfchat folks. Strange as it may sound, but despite being primarily responsible for blowing up the Internet, we are not full-time disruptive social media experts. Yesterday I was running a fundraising golf day for Fairways so today #Golfchat oragnisation is happening a little later than anticipated.

#Golfchat Goes to Potts

Ricky Lee Potts, that is.

This week the most interesting thing in golf is the LPGA CME Group Tour Championship, being held in Naples FL, at the Tiburón Golf Club. Tiburón is a Troon property and the Troon Director of Marketing there is the inimitable Ricky Lee Potts.

Ricky has kindly agreed to be our first ever special guest as we look to expand #Golfchat’s horizons, even temporarily, beyond the latest and greatest cat GIF.

The format for this week will be a little experimental. We’ll ask Ricky to talk a bit about the CME Group Tour Championship, the Tiburón property and his role there. Then we’ll open it up to #Golfchat participants, who will no doubt only ask Ricky intelligent, insightful and cutting-edge questions about the topics at hand.

Of course, being a golf tragic, Ricky will surely be happy to respond to other questions, particularly those relating to his recent visit to the home of golf, St. Andrew’s in Scotland.

#Golfchat Great White Shark Week

12 months ago, Greg Norman promised us a “revolution” in golf.

It turns out that revolution is the “Shark Experience – an entertainment hub to enhance the golf course experience.” Digging deeper for words people actually understand, we find it’s a juiced up golf cart screen with more options than just GPS yardages.

You want a scorecard? You got it! How about live sport (other than that you’re playing yourself)? No problem! Cashless payments (a sexy way of saying “please let us store your credit card info on our platform too”)? Easy!

I wonder if Greg knows smartphones have been doing all that stuff for years…?
